Why Carpet is Still Trending in 2019
The flooring options today are endless: wood, engineered wood, laminate, laminate that mimics wood, ceramic tile, porcelain tile, concrete, travertine, bamboo, cork, marble, vinyl….and of course, carpet.
With so many choices, how is it that carpet is still one of the top flooring options in 2019?
Your alarm goes off early on a chilly morning. You stretch under the covers and then sit up, ready to take on the day. Stepping onto warm, plush carpet makes it that much easier to get out of bed.
It’s no secret that carpet is the most comfortable flooring options. Soft carpet not only provides warmth, but also feels cozy and even acts as a sound barrier. Carpet is often installed in bedrooms, entryways, living rooms, and on stairs for these reasons. For families with children, carpet is an especially appealing option, because it provides a cushion for playtime and helps eliminate hard falls.
Texture and Design
If you’ve narrowed your flooring choice down to carpet, you still have a lot of deciding to do! Wall-to-wall carpeting comes in a variety of textures and designs and is one of the easiest ways to set the tone for any room.
As far as texture goes, consider the pile height, or fiber density of the carpet. Longer-pile (think shag) make for a softer, more luxurious experience, while short-pile carpet is stronger and easier to clean.
With design, earthy tones continue to be popular, while colorful rugs pop in rooms with neutral color palettes. Carpet designs range from stripes to geometric shapes to abstract art, allowing you to make the carpet either a muted foundation or the focal point of the room. You can accomplish any style you desire by selecting a carpet with the right texture and design.
Concerns that used to come with carpeting are now a thing of the past. Shaw Floors has carpet collections with new fiber innovation and the ultimate spill-proof backing. This makes both everyday cleaning and accidental spills easy to handle. In addition to being stain repellant, carpet is also lasting longer than ever, and continues to look new with proper maintenance.
Luckily, no one has to choose just one type of flooring. (Let’s face it, no matter how amazing the carpet is, it does not belong in bathrooms!) You can opt for plush carpet in the bedrooms, hardwood with throughout the main living spaces and tile in the bathrooms. Area rugs are a great alternative to wall-to-wall carpeting, allowing you to bring in comfort and design to a room with hardwood or laminate flooring. We know we will continue to explore all the flooring options available as we renovate new houses.
Shaw Floors is providing flooring for the Hope House, including carpeting on the stairs (because no one want to trip up hard stairs!). Have you voted on the carpet choices this week? Visit our Facebook or Instagram to get your vote in before the reveal tomorrow!
